Mukluk Fire Financial Relief

Kinross Manh Choh is providing $2,500 in emergency financial relief to eligible households that lost their residences in the Mukluk Fire.

ELIGIBILITY SUMMARY

You may be eligible if:

  • You lived at the affected residence when the Mukluk Fire occurred.
  • Your household lost its residence because of the fire.
  • No one else in your household has submitted an application.

Renters and owner-occupants may apply. You do not need to own the residence. Nonresident landlords and property owners are not eligible.

Application Steps

  1. Complete the application form at www.manhchoh.com/fire.
  2. Verify your address in person. Visit the Kinross Manh Choh Tok Campus Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Bring one of the following documents showing that you lived at the residence lost in the Mukluk Fire: a recent power bill, phone bill, voter ID card or driver’s license.

  1. Allow time for verification. After your residency has been confirmed, our team will verify the loss of the residence. This review typically takes one to three business days.
  2. Watch for pickup instructions. We will contact you when your $2,500 cashier’s check is ready for pickup at a local bank.

Our team is reviewing submitted forms to identify households eligible for Mukluk Fire disaster relief. Only one application and one $2,500 payment are permitted per eligible household. Applicants must have lived at the affected residence, but they do not need to have owned it. Nonresident landlords and property owners are not eligible. We will contact you as soon as possible after reviewing your information. Once eligibility has been verified, $2,500 cashier’s checks will be distributed through local banks during regular business hours.

  • Kinross Alaska has established a fund that is intended to provide emergency financial assistance to households whose primary residence has been rendered uninhabitable as a result of the Mukluk Fire.
  • Submission of an application for assistance does not guarantee assistance.  Assistance is subject to verification of eligibility and available program funding.
  • Applicants must certify that:
  • We may request to review documentation reasonably necessary to verify eligibility, including proof of residence.
  • Eligibility determinations are made by Kinross Manh Choh based on the program criteria and available information.  These determinations are final and not subject to appeal.
  • Kinross Manh Choh does not provide tax advice. Applicants should consult their own tax advisors regarding any tax consequences of receiving assistance.
  • Kinross Manh Choh reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the program at any time.
